Evanston Virtual High School

A distance education program offered by Uinta County School District #1

Resident district expectations

Evanston Virtual High School will expect resident districts to provide a site coordinator who will be responsible for providing assistance in areas such as: the administration of standardized tests, securing, special education and counseling services when necessary (through cooperation with an Evanston Virtual High School representative), and provide appropriate tutoring services if needed. The resident district will appoint a mentor to the student. This mentor will work directly with the student to ensure that the student is progressing through the course in a timely manner, to ensure that the student is properly pacing him/herself, and to provide any additional support the student may need. The resident district will develop a distance-learning plan (DLP) in conjunction with Evanston Virtual High School to assure that the student is moving towards graduation and Hathaway scholarship eligibility. This DLP will be kept on file at both the resident district and the Evanston Virtual High School offices. The resident district is responsible for all assessments that are required by the Wyoming Department of Education. Evanston Virtual High School will ensure that all course completion documentation will be sent in a timely manner to the resident district's student record office. The resident district will be required to maintain all permanent records for the students enrolled in Evanston Virtual High School. Additional expectations may be included in the memorandum of understanding between the resident district and Evanston Virtual High School.

Training

Evanston Virtual High School staff will communicate with local site coordinators for training related to meeting the needs of the distance education student. Follow-up communication will occur throughout the school year as needed.

Evanston Virtual High School will provide all necessary training to certified teachers, counselors, and mentors. Travel to our campus for the training will be at the expense of the resident district. When feasible, professional development will be delivered in an online format.

Conflict resolution

Conflicts that cannot be worked out between students and the Evanston Virtual High School course instructors should be reported to the Evanston High School principal. The Uinta County School District #1 superintendent will facilitate resolution of any further conflicts. Complaint or conflicts that haven't been adequately addressed can be heard and/or resolved by the Uinta County School District #1 school board.
