Wyoming's seven community colleges offer many of their courses through distance delivery methods. Qualifying high school students (typically, juniors and seniors) may enroll in and complete these college-level courses. School districts have the option to offer high school graduation credit for successful completion of these courses, resulting in dual credit for the student. A memorandum of understanding between each college and the school districts within the college's service area defines the nature of this relationship.

Western Wyoming Community College's (WWCC) distance program is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) North Central Division, all of the college's courses are certified as meeting national standards. WWCC provides 12 associates degrees and 3 certificates available fully online. Qualified high school students can register in WWCC college-level online courses, interacting and learning with other college students. Since 2003, WWCC has worked with local school districts to refine an effective process to identify appropriate online courses and students and to provide local support to ensure student success. That local support includes notifying parents of the advantages, obligations, and time commitment involved in an online college course and working with the district to provide a facilitator. In addition, students can take advantage of all college resources, including tutoring services, library, etc.
