Method(s) of course procurement
WWCC uses self created courses and content. WWCC online courses are developed using a development team. The team consists of the instructor or content expert, the Instructional Designer, and the Internet Support Specialist. The team works together to make sure the course has appropriate objectives, content, learning activities, and assessments. WWCC is a subscriber to Quality Matters and uses this national rubric to assess its course development and design. WWCC online courses meet the objectives set by the on-campus academic departments. WWCC adjunct instructors have on-campus full-time mentors that often review their courses and answer questions from the adjunct instructors. After courses have been developed and taught at least twice, the instructors are able to submit them to be reviewed by the national Quality Matters peer review process.
Course evaluation and improvement
The first day of every semester all WWCC online courses are reviewed for consistency in design and current information and dates. All WWCC online courses are evaluated every semester with the standard college evaluation. In collaboration with faculty senate, this standard course evaluation has been adjusted for online courses to assure usefulness within the online environment. Every evaluation is reviewed by the Director of Distance Education. Once a year the courses are reviewed in detail by the Instructional Designer and this person emails suggested improvements to the faculty members with an offer to help them update their course.
