Laramie County Community College
Laramie County Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. Faculty teaching courses at LCCC are qualified and meet credentialing criteria as set forth by the Higher Learning Commission. Full-time faculty members have direct responsibility for all coursework offered through the College. Courses offered meet content standards and courses designed to transfer do so within articulation agreements with area colleges and universities. All LCCC faculty members have assistance of the College's in-house instructional designers. Professional development opportunities are available to all faculty members teaching at LCCC.
Any faculty member teaching at LCCC has the assistance of in-house instructional designers in developing and enhancing their online course. Specialized training is available for using the learning management system as well as a variety of add on packages such as WIMBA, Tegrity, etc. Professional development in these areas is offered on an ongoing basis and faculty have the ability to call an instructional designer for specialized assistance.
LCCC faculty teaching online are expected to respond to student questions and inquiries within 24 hours. All students are provided a syllabi within the course shell as well as supplementary material. Faculty members use a variety of teaching methodologies and activities in order to keep students engaged in the learning process. Student interaction is encouraged not only with the faculty member but also with other students enrolled in the course through group work and online chat rooms. Course competencies of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and learning responsibly are incorporated within all coursework at LCCC.
Method(s) of evaluation
All instructors at LCCC are monitored and evaluated on a regular basis. Student evaluations and feedback are used as part of this process. Student feedback is reviewed by the division dean and incorporated into each individual faculty member's performance review.
