DE MILESTONES REPORT (WDE591)
Overview
On June 15th of each year, the resident district will report to the WDE the Milestones completion status of all students participating in distance education courses delivered by a Wyoming school district, Community College, the University of Wyoming, or Out-of-State DE Provider.
The WDE591 is available throughout the school year for districts to upload information at the time of student enrollment. This availability will allow districts the opportunity to ensure accuracy of student level information prior to the collection due date.
If your district did not enroll any students into distance education courses this year, simply fill out the top section of information (district ID/name, contact name, phone, and email) while leaving all of the other records (course, student, and outcomes information) blank. This process formally verifies that your district did not have any distance education students.

Data Elements
The WDE591 is comprised of three areas:
Course Information
All distance education course information is initially outlined on the individual student’s Distance Learning Plan. Any modifications to this information that occurs throughout the school year must be documented using the appropriate data policies established between the resident district and distance education program provider.
- Course ID
- Course Name
- Course Provider
- Hathaway Course: Provide a “Yes” or “No” depending on if this distance education course was used as a Hathaway Success Curriculum course.
- Total Number of Course Milestones
Student Information
All student information should be pulled from the School Information System and must match the information reported on the Teacher/Course/Student Enrollment Data (WDE684) collection.
- School ID
- WISER ID
- First, Middle, and Last Name
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Grade Level
Outcomes
- Total Number of Milestones Completed: The completion of Milestones is documented through the progress updates received from the provider or student. If you are using a postsecondary DE program provider, ensure that you have the Milestone Completion information available prior to releasing students for the summer break. The number of Milestones Completed cannot exceed the number of course Milestones presented in the course information.
- K-12 Credits Awarded: If the student is not receiving K-12 credits, a zero (0) must be entered into the field.
- Postsecondary Credits Awarded: If the student is not receiving postsecondary credits, a zero (0) must be entered into the field.
- Completion Status: Indicate if the student has completed the course, the course is still in progress, or if the student withdrew as of the date that the data is submitted.
Supplemental tabs have been provided to calculate the aggregate number of days generated by each course.
Data Upload
The WDE591 is a district level excel report that all districts are required to submit through the Data Submission website. School level submissions cannot be accepted.
Tips
Please make note of the following when completing the DE Milestones Report:
- Save the WDE591 locally prior to inputting your district's data.
- If your district did not enroll any students into distance education courses this year, simply fill out the top section of information (district ID/name, contact name, phone, and email) while leaving all of the other records (course, student, and outcomes information) blank. This process formally verifies that your district did not have any distance education students.
- All student information should be pulled from the School Information System and must match the information reported on the Teacher/Course/Student Enrollment Data (WDE684) collection.
- If you cut-and-paste information into the WDE591, you must use the “Paste Special…” feature to ensure that only the values are inserted. If other formatting, formulas, etc are pasted into the WDE591 it will not load properly and your district will be required to resubmit.
- All fields must be completed for the form to be accepted. If the student is not receiving credit for either elementary or post secondary a zero (0) must be entered into the field.
- The number of Milestones presented in each course is located on the individual Distance Learning Plans and the completion is documented through the progress updates received from the provider or student. If you are using a postsecondary DE program provider, ensure that you have the Milestone Completion information available prior to releasing students for the summer break.
- The number of Milestones Completed cannot exceed the number of course Milestones presented.
- When available, use the drop down menus provided in the form and do not hand enter information into these cells.
- The WDE591 is a district level report that all districts are required to submit through the Data Submission website. School level submission cannot be accepted.
- Even if a student completed 0 Milestones for a course, the record must be included on this report.
