Last Monday, the WDE released a Supt's Memo (No. 2011-108) regarding the certification of the revised Chapter 41 Distance Education rules. If your district accepts credit for distance education courses delivered by an out-of-state program provider, three important steps need to be addressed: (1) Each district must submit one "Program Overview" that provides general information about the schools receiving the distance education courses and the program(s) delivering them... (2) All enrolled students will have a Distance Learning Plan (DLP) established... (3) Milestones, or course objectives, must be established to track student progress through the course, report completion rates on the WDE591, and calculate attendance and membership equivalency.
